Forum: forums Subject: Cannot Edit Item

Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into a problem I have encountered frequently (for the last several months) when attempting to edit the metadata on an item. The page does not completely load, it only goes about 3/4 of the way down the page, so that there is no way to save the changes. This is rather frustrating, as there are multiple items I need to edit but have no way to do so.
Reloading the page, or going back to the original post and trying to edit again, and similar methods do not work - I only get the same 3/4 of the edit page.

Attached is a screenshot of what I see. Notice the scroll bar is all the way to the bottom, but the page is incomplete.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apparently there are a few bad characters in the ID3 metadata in the the mp3 file. An engineer here is re-writing a tool that should fix the issue so just hang on.

"Apparently there are a few bad characters in the ID3 metadata in the the mp3 file."

Is this the case of every file we upload then? I've only been able to successfully edit maybe one or two items we've uploaded..

What "bad characters" might this be so we can avoid this in the future?

Many thanks!

i think it was in your ID3 tags within the MP3 itself.

i'm pretty sure you were screenshotting/referring to this item, right?

that works now -- I made a fix for highly unusual ID3 chars end of last week...
(and other items should work if they previously had similar ID3 issue, too)

Yes, many or all seem to have the same problem. The one I looked at had ê followed by a space in the title.
